Paths fail the same way driveways do, just faster, because they are poured thinner and closer to the fence line where the ground was never compacted. A path that ponds against the house wall in a Dandenong winter is worse than no path at all, so the fall is the first thing set and the last thing checked.
Side paths and front paths
The classic Greater Dandenong job is the side path between the driveway and the back yard on a 1960s block, cracked into plates and lifting at the joints. The old path comes out, the base is compacted, and the new path is poured at 75mm minimum, stepped up to 100mm where a vehicle crosses it. The finish can be broom for grip, trowelled, or carried through in coloured or exposed aggregate to match the driveway.
Footpath reinstatement
Where building or driveway works disturb the public footpath, the City of Greater Dandenong requires it reinstated to council standards. That work sits inside the same permit and inspection framework as the vehicle crossing, and we include it in the written quote where it applies so there is no loose end with the council after the job.
