$110 to $150 per m², supplied and laid. Prices may vary with site conditions and variations.
A shed is only as good as the slab under it. A slab that is thin, unreinforced or poured on uncompacted fill will crack under the first vehicle, and by then the shed is bolted to it. The slab is the one part of the project that cannot be fixed later, which is why it is specified before it is priced.
Specified by what sits on it
A garden shed and a workshop with a hoist do not need the same slab, and quoting them the same is how slabs fail. Garden sheds with normal use are poured at 100mm with SL72 mesh. Garages, carports and workshops where vehicles, racking or machinery will sit are poured at 125mm with SL82 mesh, and edges are thickened where the shed manufacturer requires it. Rebates and hold-down points are formed in to the supplier’s drawings so the frame sits flat and the doors line up. The full build-up, including base preparation for Greater Dandenong’s clay, is on the specification page.
These slabs are for outbuildings. We do not pour dwelling or structural building slabs; for those, talk to your builder’s concreter.
The Dandenong shed slab
The dual occupancy and townhouse builds going up across Dandenong, Noble Park and Keysborough usually finish with a shed or double garage at the rear, and access is often a narrow side run between fences. Access is checked at the site measure, and where a truck cannot reach the pour, the concrete is barrowed or pumped and the quote says so up front rather than as a variation on the day.
What it costs
Shed and garage slabs run $110 to $150 per square metre supplied and laid, with the range driven by thickness, mesh and access. The cost guide has worked examples by shed size, and the calculator gives a range for your dimensions. Booked alongside a driveway or paths, the combined rate comes down because the crew mobilises once. Old slab in the way? Removal and replacement covers getting it out.
